Her character does evolve the closer she gets to Caleb. Kantra did a great job of setting up a simple mythos for the series and brought in the hero for her second book and the heroine for her third seamlessly. I would have preferred it if both characters had made equal sacrifices, or if there has been some sort of give-and-take to kantfa that Caleb’s love was as selfless as Margred’s.
I don’t know why this book didn’t appeal to me, but I set it down after 45 pages and just didn’t want to pick it up again. They fell in love, but I can’t remember seeing it happen. Wwitch is not an easily likable character in the beginning.

My only complain is that a lot of the smaller characters didn’t have quite enough depth, although I’m happy that Regina and Dylan will be the main characters of the next novel since I did want to see more of them. I couldn’t put the book down and read it in one day. Life has a slower pace and he’s recovering, getting stronger and better. He’s human and has desires that he thinks he will never find in his hometown on a coastal Maine island.
