Is the maniac keeping his threat by killing off anyone who gets close to her? First thing that bothered me: As in the case of the heroes in some of Eloisa James’ early stuff like the Pleasures seriesit was really hard to see Grant as this dreamy guy when he said, felt, and did some really awful things, but it was ok because Kleypa real Vivien wasn’t nearly as likable as sweet Victoria.

I don’t expect or need them to be virgins, but an infamous mistress as Viven was described is another matter altogether. His spurning of Vivien led to her spreading untrue rumors about him.

Bow Street Runners Book Number: The mystery was well-done, keeping me guessing the first time I read it: That night, her memory comes back and she remembers this fact, making her run to Sir Ross at number 4 Kkleypas Street, the only man besides Grant that she knows she can trust. As a result, he’s earned a fortune to rival any aristocrat and is invited to many of their parties as something of a novelty guest.

The usual Lisa magic wasn’t in this story. A Gentleman Never Tells.

I loved Victoria too, an adorable “country girl” who was the perfect match for Grant. Y voy a por Ross. Did not have as much romance than first thought however the mystery and suspense in this story was there. Again, another enjoyable read, although not as good as my first two. These books would be appropriate for teen and sensitive readers.

The characters were interesting; I liked Grant for the most part and I adored Victoria. But this heroine won me over very quickly. If memory serves, Someone to Watch Over Me was the very first book I randomly chose from my overstuffed bookshelves and it was also the first one I ever read by Lisa Kleypas.

And I think it made the story so enjoyable in my eyes.


Seven Minutes in Heaven. The novel characters and plot held my interest all the way through, and the book got more and more exciting as it went along.

On the whole, this was a well-written book that lived up to its promise, becoming better and better as it went along. I also found her to be very calm and collected, never a woman given to histrionics like many women in her situation might be.

Grant Morgan is fabled for his investigative skills. THAT is good writing. The Vivien we see recovering at Grant’s house has an air of sweetness and innocence about her. First his backstory is very sympathetic, and while it doesn’t play a huge part in the story, he has experienced a lot of loss in his life. View all 6 comments.
